Handmade Bespoke Upcycled
Our Story
Jodi.C Home was founded by 2 partners with different nationalities and culture but the same appreciation for the Japanese Artisan Spirit and Art. Sam is from Shanghai and Jodi is from Singapore. We use fabrics and materials reclaimed from Japanese Traditional Clothing, namely the Kimono & Obi Sash. Today, kimonos are worn mostly by women only on special occasions such as weddings, tea ceremonies, coming to age ceremonies etc. Sometimes, they are worn once and then discarded or kept until a state where the piece of clothing cannot be worn anymore. Jodi.C Home dismantles these pieces of clothing and upcycles the reclaimed fabrics into handbags and fashion accessories.
品牌创始人是一对来之新加坡和上海的夫妻. 我们使用从日本各地回收的和服、羽织、和服腰带,带缔等,通过再生设计将其珍贵面料制造成各种各样的手提包及服饰。

OHAGURO: ART OF BLACK
The unique practice of Ohaguro is a traditional art form in Japan where teeth are dyed black. Black Teeth were a status symbol and a particularly widespread practice among aristocrats during the Heian Era, especially among young women who were ready to marry. The fashion at the time was for women to have white painted faces, and blackened teeth were thought to compliment this look well. Other than the aristocrats, samurai also dyed their teeth black as proof of loyalty to their masters.
The Brand Creators of ‘Ohaguro: art of black’Street Wear loved the concept of such an unsual and somewhat rebellious art which dated so far back in Japanese History. You will find in our original artworks, traditional japanese patterns in contemporary colors juxtaposed against modern outlines and geometric shapes.
